Lyndon Baines Johnson Ranch

Located between Johnson City, Texas on US Highway 281, and the tourist trap historic town of Fredericksburg is the site of the LBJ Ranch. Lyndon Johnson was elected to the House of Representatives in 1937, then elected to the US Senate in 1948. In 1960, he was elected as President John F. Kennedy's Vice President. Upon President Kennedy's assignation on November 22, 1963, he became the 36th President of the US.

During his tenure, he would relax at his ranch here in Stonewall, Texas, then known as the Texas White House. This ranch has been turned into two parks. On the south side of Pedernales River is the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site. On the north side of the river is the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. There is no fee for entering either park.
